Troubleshooting Tip: How to resolve FortiCare Registration Error when logging in to GUI

Description This article describes how to resolve the error encountered when registering with FortiCare upon logging in to the GUI
Scope FortiGate.
Solution

When attempting to register with FortiCare, the error 'FortiCare: This product serial number has already been registered' can be encountered, as displayed in the screenshot.

The following steps can be taken to address this issue:

  1. Continue to the GUI by selecting "Later" in the screenshot above.
  2.  Navigate to the CLI and execute the following commands: 


execute update-now 

 

In case the update is still pending, run the below command to check the issue.

 

diag debug application update -1
diag debug enable

 

And to disable the debug below is the command:

 

diag debug disable

 

  1. Verify the update was successful by navigating to Log & Report -> System Events.

Verify that the registration was successful by navigating to System -> FortiGuard
