Troubleshooting Tip: High CPU behavior cause by the openvmtools process

Description This article describes a behavior where the openvmtools process starts using around 80% of the CPU.
Scope FortiGate VM in version 7.4.8.
Solution

FortiGate openvmtools randomly uses around 80% of a core in the VM:

This issue is causing another general issue in the behavior of the FortiGate due to the high CPU load.

 

Solution: Upgrade to v7.4.11 or v7.6.6.
