Description

This article describes the steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue of GUI inaccessibility on FortiGate when FortiAnalyzer and/or FortiManager are running incompatible versions. Access to the device via console or SSH is possible, but web management access is not.

Scope

FortiGate, FortiAnalyzer, FortiManager.

Solution

To troubleshoot and resolve the issue of GUI inaccessibility on FortiGate, follow these steps:

  • If making use of FortiAnalyzer or FortiManager, check that if the Firmware versions currently running on these are compatible with the current FortiOS version using the Compatibility Tool.

  • Consider upgrading the FortiAnalyzer and FortiManager firmware to a compatible version.

  • Check if the FortiAnalyzer or FortiManager has automation configured for the devices in the Security Fabric.

  • On FortiGate, check for any process crashes with the following command:

diagnose crashlog read

If crashes for the process autod and httpsd are found:

  • After the upgrade has taken place, run these commands to restart the autod and httpsd processes:

fnsysctl killall autod
fnsysctl killall httpsd

  • Verify that the FortiManager device is not causing issues by checking the configuration and ensuring that it is not blocking access to the web management interface.

The FortiGate GUI should be accessible afterward.
