Troubleshooting Tip: FortiProduct Application not found error with FortiGate and FortiToken Cloud

FortiGate can use FortiToken Cloud for more simple management with FortiToken Multifactor Authentication. FortiGate can assign FortiToken Cloud Tokens to users through the GUI or CLI.

1. Navigate to the desired user on the FortiGate under FortiGate GUI -> User & Authentication -> User Definition and select the desired user for FortiToken Cloud Authentication
2. Enable Two-Factor Authentication and set the Authentication type to 'FortiToken Cloud'.

3. Select 'OK' and check to see if an error shows up.
   
   

In the screenshot above, the GUI shows the following error.

Error:
"Failed to add a new user"

4. Attempt to assign the FortiToken Cloud through the CLI under FortiGate GUI -> User & Authentication -> User Definition, select the desired user for FortiToken Cloud Authentication and choose 'Edit in CLI'

Enter the following commands:

set two-factor fortitoken-cloud 
set email-to (enter email)
end

5. Check if the 'FortiProduct Application not found' error occurs.

6. Navigate to the FortiToken Cloud instance through the Asset Management Portal.

7. Navigate to the following location under FortiToken Cloud GUI -> Settings -> Global, select 'Auto-Create Application (for FOS only)' -> Apply Changes

8. Navigate back to the FortiGate GUI or CLI and attempt to assign the Token again. Confirm that the Token applies successfully to the user and the activation email is sent.

9. Confirm that the FortiGate shows up as a FortiProduct on FortiToken Cloud under FortiToken Cloud GUI -> Applications -> FortiProducts.
