Troubleshooting Tip: FortiGate Policy Object Comment Search Issue Post-Upgrade to v7.4/v7.6

Description

This article describes that after upgrading to the v7.4 or v7.6 branch, filtering specific columns such as From, To, IP Pool, and Service during quick-edit on the Firewall Policy page no longer works in ‘By Sequence,’ interface pair, or sequence grouping views.

Solution

Create custom firewall addresses, interfaces, and services, ensuring the comment field is filled in:

Navigate to the Firewall Policy page and quick-edit one of the specified columns or fields. In v7.2 or v7.4.8 (fixed version), it is possible to search the policy object based on comments.

The same FortiGate, when upgraded to v7.4 (except v7.4.8) or v7.6 branch, the comment search feature does not work

Expected Behavior:

While quick-editing a policy, the 'Select Entries' pop-up on the Firewall Policy page should support filtering objects based on their comments.

The issue is expected to be resolved in the v7.4.8 and v7.6.4.
