Troubleshooting Tip: ‘diagnose sys logdisk status’ shows unknown even though no disk issue is present
| Description | This article describes a case in which 'diagnose sys logdisk status' shows unknown, even though there is no disk failure and log collection is working properly. |
| Scope | FortiOS. |
| Solution | The following output shows that the file system status is displayed as unknown when 'diagnose sys logdisk status' is executed.
Example:
FGVMSLTM01 # diagnose sys logdisk status
The command 'diagnose sys logdisk status' is used to retrieve the power mode of a specific disk. FortiOS implements this function only for SATA/IDE disks. As a result, 'unknown' may be displayed on FortiOS systems that use disks other than SATA/IDE.
If unknown is displayed, this result can be ignored as long as it can be confirmed that the disk is mounted properly, the log collection function is operating normally, and no disk error messages are generated during the initial boot process.
In this example, an NVME drive was attached to the FortiGate, not a SATA/IDE one: FortiGate # diagnose hardware deviceinfo disk Disk SYSTEM(boot) 2.0GiB type: IDE [Virtual Disk] dev: /dev/nvme0n1
