Technical Tip: WhatsApp Voice Call is not working when connected to FortiGate

This article provides a first troubleshooting step that should be followed when WhatsApp voice calls are not working.
Scope
FortiGate.
Solution
WhatsApp voice calls use a custom port for voice communication. The following ports will need to be allowed for WhatsApp voice calls to work:
TCP: 4244, 5222, 5223, 5228, 5242
UDP: 3478, 45395
UDP: 3478, 45395
In order to open these ports on the FortiGate, follow these steps:
- Go to Policy & Objects.
- Select Services.
- Create New.
- Name the port, such as 'Port ####'.
- In the destination port field, select TCP, UDP, or SCTP depending on the kind of port needed.
- Write the port number, for example, 4244.
- Hit OK to create it.


 
Repeat the same process to open the remaining ports.
