Technical Tip: Updating FPC firmware with that of MBD

Description

Sometimes the FPC is found disconnected from the fabric and is required to reimage the same, or when firmwares of FPC and MBD are different, the FPC is reimaged with the same firmware running on MBD.

Scope

For FortiGate-6000F.

Solution

1) Check the status of FPC module and ensure that the Base connectivity for the FPC is noted Up.

Note.
If Base and Fabric is found down, it indicates that the slot is powered down or shutdown.
In that case, try to power on the slot and check if the FPC joins the fabric and move Status to Working state.

2) To update the firmware on FPC from the MBD use the command below:

#execute load-balance update image <slot_id>
