Technical Tip: Unable to access FortiGate from FortiCloud after new VDOM creation

Description This article describes the solution if the access to FortiGate from FortiCloud has been lost after the creation of a new VDOM.
Scope FortiGate, FortiCloud.
Solution

If there is no access to FortiGate from FortiCloud, the following steps can be followed to troubleshoot the issue.

 

 

  1. Check the type under config sys central-management settings.

 

 

If the type is set to 'none' as shown in the following screenshot, change it to 'fortiguard' as shown in the next screenshot.

  1. Set the VDOM to the Internet VDOM. For example, if the Internet VDOM is 'External' but is set to 'root' under 'config sys central-management' settings, FortiGate will not be accessed from FortiCloud. In order to get access, the VDOM needs to be set to the Internet VDOM. In this case, it is 'External'.
