Technical Tip: The FortiOS v7.4.12 GUI may display an incorrect HA status until the browser refresh

Description

This article describes a known issue in FortiOS v7.4.12 that may cause the GUI to display an incorrect HA status. The correct HA status is displayed after refreshing the browser.

Scope

FortiGate v7.4.12.

Solution

Users may experience an issue where the GUI displays an incorrect HA status until the browser is refreshed after upgrading the FortiGate to firmware version 7.4.12.

When logging in to the primary FortiGate, the GUI incorrectly displays the HA status as Secondary, as shown below, while the commands get system status and get system ha status correctly identify the device as Primary.

In the screenshot below, edge-fw-01 is the Primary unit, while edge-fw-02 is the Secondary unit.

When viewing the HA tab, edge-fw-01 is correctly displayed as the Primary unit, and edge-fw-02 is displayed as the Secondary unit, confirming that there have been no changes to the actual HA roles.

However, after refreshing the browser, the HA status updates correctly and displays Primary.

This issue is being investigated and will be resolved in the upcoming FortiOS v7.6.8 and v8.0.1. Note that this cosmetic issue has been observed across multiple browsers and will persist regardless of the browser used.
