Description

This article describes the causes of HTML formatting loss in the SSL VPN Web Portal after upgrading to v7.0.

Scope FortiGate v7.0+.
Solution

The issue occurred when the  SSL VPN login page replacement message was edited on v6.4.X and below.
Removing any part of the default HTML configuration on this replacement message will make it tagged as Modified and configuration and changes will be present on backup configuration.

Starting from v7.0, legacy v6.X HTML formatting is already not supported.
After the upgrade, FortiGate carried the legacy v6.X HTML formatting since it is present on the backup configuration file causing the Web Portal Login Page format issue.

To resolve the issue, restore the default value of the SSL VPN Login Page Replacement Message then 'Save'.

Note:
Starting from v7.6.3, the SSL VPN tunnel mode will no longer be supported, and SSL VPN web mode will be called 'Agentless VPN'.
