Technical Tip: Security Fabric topology Fails to Load with Error 'Failed to Load Topology Report Results'

Description

This article explains an issue where the FortiGate fails to load Physical and Logical Topology and displays the error message 'Failed to Load Topology Report Results'.

Scope

FortiGate v7.4.3, v7.4.4.

Solution

When attempting to load the Physical and Logical Topology on FortiGate, the error 'Failed to Load Topology Report Results' may appear, preventing the topology from being displayed as shown below:

This issue has been resolved in FortiOS versions: (without APs connected on the fabric):

  • v7.6.4 (scheduled to be released in August; 2025).
  • v8.0.0 (scheduled to be released in February; 2026).

These timelines for firmware release are estimates and may be subject to change.


This issue has been resolved in FortiOS versions: (with APs connected on the fabric):

  • v7.4.8 (available to download from the Fortinet support portal).
  • v7.6.3 (available to download from the Fortinet support portal).

Logs required by FortiGate TAC for investigation.

 

  1. Debugs:

 

   diagnose debug reset

diagnose debug application httpsd -1

diagnose debug application csfd -1

diagnose debug console timestamp enable

diagnose debug enable  -->Reproduce the issue.

 

To stop the debug processes in the end, press 'Ctrl+C' and enter 'diagnose debug disable'.
