Description

This article describes how to check bandwidth usage by using a bandwidth usage monitor per source.

Scope

FortiGate.

Solution

  • Monitor Bandwidth usage is passing thru FortiGate via FortiView.
  1. Go to Dashboard, select the '+' button, set a name, select 'OK' and then add a widget (on this example it is Fortiview Sources).

  1. Choose which bandwidth usage to monitor but in this example, it is for bandwidth usage per source so 'FortiView Sources' have been chosen.

  1. Configure a TIME PERIOD (now, 1hour, 24hours, 7 days), VISUALIZATION (Table view or Bubble chart), and SORT BY (bytes, sessions, bandwidth, packets).

  • Final Output. It is possible now to view bandwidth usage per sources.

Note: The bandwidth section is only visible if the Time Period is set to NOW.
If the time period is changed to 1 hour or 24 hours, the bandwidth section goes away.

Note: To ensure accurate data is displayed in this Dashboard Widget, ‘Log Allowed Traffic’ (Security Events or All Sessions) should be enabled in the firewall policies.
