Technical Tip: How to send a backup configuration file to FortiCloud
Description
This article explains how an administrator can back up the FortiGate configuration to the FortiCloud service.
Solution
- It is necessary to have an active account in FortiCloud with paid subscriptions.

- Validate if the next configuration is in the FortiGate, specifically 'set mode backup'.

- Enable backup mode if not already configured.
- Execute the next command to send the configuration file to FortiCloud:
execute backup config management-station name
name -- provide a comment / assign a name to the file

- To verify if the file is in FortiCloud
- Log in to FortiCloud.
- Select the device and go to the 'Configuration' tab.
- Select the FortiGate and select on 'Manage revisions'.

Automatic scheduled backup: An automatic schedule can also be configured from the FortiGate Cloud.:
- Automatic schedule is also supported from the FortiGate Cloud.
- Go under configuration -> Revisions, select the FortiGate -> 'Manage revisions' and schedule auto-backup.
- The frequency at which backups can be taken includes 'session', 'daily', or 'weekly'. An email is sent when a backup is made, and these backup mail notifications can be toggled on or off.
