Technical Tip: How to see the MAC address name instead of mac address in DHCP IP address assignment rules in FortiGate

Description This article describes how to see the MAC address name instead of the MAC address in DHCP IP address assignment rules in FortiGate.
Scope FortiGate v6.0.x, v7.0.x, v7.2.x, v7.4.x.
Solution

In the below example, address 61:fd:17:7e:67:20 is configured in lower case and 64:38:E3:E5:A5:05 is configured in uppercase.

Under Interface -> port'x' -> DHCP server -> Advance -> IP Address Assignment Rules, only the name of the MAC address that was configured is visible. In lowercase (MANAGEMENT TEAM) in the above example and the MAC address which was configured in uppercase cannot be seen as the name of the mac address but only the MAC address (64:38:E3:E5:A5:05).

In the below example, both addresses are now configured in lowercase:

Name of the both MAC addresses are visible (IT) and (MANAGEMENT TEAM) in the DHCP IP address assignment rules:
