Technical Tip: How to monitor Top System Events on FortiGate

Description This article describes how to monitor Top system events on FortiGate.
Scope FortiGate.
Solution

To add Top System Event to Monitor widget, go to Dashboard -> Select + (Add Monitor) -> Top System Events

The System Events dashboard in FortiGate has two widgets that show the top system events: 

  • Top System Events by Events: Sorts by event count.
  • Top System Events by LevelSorts by event severity.

To view the System Events dashboard:

  1. Select the Expand to full-screen icon within a widget to view additional details.
  2. 'Double-click' an event entry to view the specific event log.

 

To view other event logs in FortiGate, including: 

  • WiFi Events: Available on hardware devices when the WiFi Controller is enabled.
  • FortiExtender Events: Available when FortiExtender is enabled.
  • SDN Connector Events: Always available.
  • FortiSwitch Events: Available when Switch Controller is enabled.
  • Router Events: Always available.
  • VPN Events: Available when VPN is enabled.
  • User Events: Always available.
  • Endpoint Events: Available when Endpoint Control is enabled.
