Technical Tip : How to manually set Fortinet Interface Module (FIM) Master

This article describes how to manually configure a specific Fortinet Interface Module (FIM) as the master for a FortiGate Chassis with multiple FIM modules.

Scope

FortiGate chassis 7000 series.

Solution

In this scenario, Slot 1 was the Master.

Connect to Slot 2.

FG7KE-1 [FIM01] (global) # execute load-balance slot manage 2

FG7KE-1 login: admin

Welcome!

FG7KE-1 [FIM02] #

Then set it as Master.

FG7KE-1 [FIM02] (global) # diagnose test application fimhbd

1. Show FIM HB context

2. Toggle FIM HB set-as-primary status

3. Dump IP rescue information
