Description This article describes how to manually assign a Policy ID to the firewall policy from the FortiGate GUI.
Scope FortiGate.
Solution

In order to manually assign a Policy ID from the GUI, 'Policy Advanced Options' must be enabled.

From the GUI, enable the following option under Feature Visibility -> Policy Advanced Options.

To enable this feature from the CLI, run the following:

config system settings

  set gui-advanced-policy enable

end

Once the feature is enabled on the FortiGate, an option to set a policy ID will then become visible.

Note: With the policy ID exposed, the logic follows that of the CLI, where a numerical ID must be defined. Specifying 0 in the policy ID will let the FortiGate automatically assign an unused policy ID.
