Technical Tip: How to get email notifications for new firmware releases from FortiGate.

By creating an automation stitch, it is possible to get automated notifications from FortiGate regarding new firmware releases.

This notification is available only for that specific firewall model.

The configuration steps are:

1. Create a New automation stitch:

2. Provide the name of the stitch and select a trigger.

3. Create a new trigger:

4. For a new trigger select the FortiOS event log:

5. Provide a name for that trigger and add the event:

6. For the event search for 'New firmware available on FortiGuard':

7. Apply the new event as a trigger:

8. Select the action that will be emailed here:

9. Select the email option to add a new email recipient:

10. Provide a name, recipient email address, and email subject:

11. Add that newly created email notification as action:

12. Save the 'OK' button to save the automation stitch:

Whenever there will be a new firmware release related to this firewall, an email notification will be sent to the recipient for the new release.
