Technical Tip: How to enable or disable Bluetooth Module on FortiGate

Technically the BLE only runs for a minute during the first boot or initialization process. If the unit is configured without using the BLE, it will remain turned off.

The commands below disable Bluetooth/BLE:

diagnose bluetooth enable 0/1 <----- To disable use 0, and to enable use 1.

The status can be checked with:

diagnose bluetooth status
Bluetooth Status: RESET BOOTLOADER
Connect State(0): BLE_MODE_DISABLED

For a FortiGate G series unit, the output will be as follows after disabling the bluetooth:

diagnose bluetooth status
Bluetooth Status: RESET BOOTLOADER
Connect State(7): BLE_MODE_FSD_DISCONNECTION

If the status is manually changed to 'enable 1', it will stay enabled only for a minute.

diagnose bluetooth status
Bluetooth Status: NORMAL BOOTLOADER
Connect State(5): BLE_MODE_FSD_READY

It is not possible to physically remove the Bluetooth module from the FortiGate as it will void the warranty.
