Technical Tip: How to enable management of a FortiGate from FortiCloud
Description
FortiCloud has a feature that allows the user to view and deploy some configurations and perform upgrades from FortiCloud to the FortiGate.
This article explains how to enable the management feature from FortiCloud to FortiGate.
Scope
FortiGate, FortiCloud.
Solution
Login to the FortiCloud portal and navigate to the FortiGate device.
On the top, select Management.
After, select 'Enable Management'.
- After enabling cloud management, the FortiGate admin user will receive a confirmation message: 'Configuration of this device has not been initialized in FortiGate Cloud, set Central Management to FortiGate Cloud from the device and verify the management tunnel is up. And it may take a few seconds to initialize.'
- The user will be able to manage FortiGate from the FortiCloud portal by selecting the 'Management' tab.
- Ensure that central management is enabled on the FortiGate.
Use the following commands to enable management in the CLI:
config system central-management
set type fortiguard
end
Sometimes, it is necessary to restart the forticldd process (the FortiCloud process) to bring the tunnel up:
fnsysctl killall forticldd
