Technical Tip: How to disable the broadcasting of the SSID

Description

 

The Service Set Identifier (SSID) is the network name shared by all users on a wireless network. Wireless users configure their wireless devices to connect to the network that broadcasts the network name.

 

It is possible to turn off the broadcasting of the SSID, which will effectively hide the wireless network from unwanted attackers

To turn off SSID broadcasting:

 

  1. Go to WiFi Controller -> SSIDs and select the SSID:

  1. Disable Broadcast SSID and select OK:
