Description

This article demonstrates how to collect status of POE ports on a managed FortiSwitch from the FortiGate CLI.

Scope

Managed FortiSwitch, FortiGate.

Solution

Collect a summary of POE status including all POE ports of a FortiSwitch by running:

diagnose switch-controller switch-info poe summary <FortiSwitch Serial Number>

Example output for FortiSwitch 108E-POE:

In the output below, the FortiSwitch 108E-POE has 4 POE ports and one Access Point connected to POE port2 which has the 'Delivering Power' State.

diagnose switch-controller switch-info poe summary S108EPXXXXXXXXXX
Managed Switch :  S108EPXXXXXXXXXX      0
Unit Power Budget: 65.00W
Unit Guard Band: 19.00W
Unit Power Consumption: 7.00W
Unit Temperature: 50.00 Centigrade
Unit Poe Power Mode : Priority Based
Interface   Status    State             Max-Power(W)   Power-consumption(W)   Priority   Class   Error
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
port1       Enabled   Searching         0.00           0.00                   Low        0
port2       Enabled   Delivering Power  32.00          6.40                   Low        4
port3       Enabled   Searching         0.00           0.00                   Low        0
port4       Enabled   Searching         0.00           0.00                   Low        0

Collect detailed output of a single POE port on a FortiSwitch by running:

diagnose switch-controller switch-info poe detail <FortiSwitch Serial Number> <Port>

Example output for FortiSwitch 108E-POE port2:

diagnose switch-controller switch-info poe detail S108EPXXXXXXXXXX port2
Managed Switch : S108EPXXXXXXXXXX     0
Port(2) Power:6.40W,    Power-Status: Delivering Powe
Power-Up Mode: Normal Mode
PD type: Valid Resistor detected
Remote Power Device Type: IEEE802.3AT PD
Power Class: 4
Defined Max Power: 30.0W, Priority: Low.
Voltage: 54.10V
Current: 120mA
