Technical Tip: How to check the changes done in GUI via the CLI

Description This article explains how to check the changes done on the GUI and can be seen on the CLI, this can be helpful during the configuration changes as well as for the audit.
Scope FortiGate.
Solution

Run the below command on the FortiGate CLI:

 

diag debug cli 6 

diag debug en 

 

After running the above commands on the FortiGate CLI and then the changes can be done on the FortiGate GUI.

Make the change in primary DNS to any other public DNS by specifying the IP address in primary DNS.

The changes can be seen in the CLI:

When configuration is pushed from FortiManager it can be recorded in CLI with the same debug commands.
