Technical Tip: GUI Guest Management – Print button missing and Send button greyed out for prof_admin profile

Description

This article describes an issue where the Print button is missing and the Send button is greyed out in the GUI under User & Authentication -> Guest Management.

After upgrading FortiOS, administrators using the prof_admin profile may notice:

• The Print button is missing.

• The Send button is visible but cannot be clicked (greyed out).

Scope

FortiOS v7.4, FortiOS v7.6, FortiOS v8.0.

Solution

After upgrading FortiOS to version 7.4.10 or later:

• The Print button is no longer visible.

• The Send button appears greyed out (disabled).

• The issue affects users with the prof_admin profile.

From the GUI:

• The toolbar shows options such as Create New, Edit, Delete, Purge, but Print is missing.

• The Send option is visible but not selectable (greyed out).
  
  

However, when logged in using a super_admin profile, the Print button is visible and functional.

Workaround:

Log in using an administrator account with the super_admin profile to access the Print functionality.

This behavior is caused by a GUI permission handling issue affecting the prof_admin profile. The issue has been identified and is scheduled to be resolved in upcoming FortiOS releases:

• FortiOS v7.6.8.

• FortiOS v8.0.1.
