Description

This article explains an error that appears on the FortiGate GUI when a FortiAuthenticator-signed certificate is uploaded to System -> Certificates after a CSR has been generated on the FortiGate.

Scope

FortiGate v7.6.x.

Solution

The error 'Unable to create certificate' may be displayed on the FortiGate GUI when a FortiAuthenticator-signed certificate is uploaded to System -> Certificates after a CSR has been generated on the FortiGate.

  1. Generate a CSR on the FortiGate.

  1. Sign the CSR using a CA on FortiAuthenticator:

  1. Upon importing the signed certificate onto the FortiGate, an error 'Unable to create certificate' is displayed.

Despite this error, the certificate will be successfully uploaded to the FortiGate and correctly displayed under Local Certificates.
