Description

This article describes that when attempting to view traffic for the past 5 minutes, 1 hour, or 24 hours, no traffic history is displayed in FortiGate's FortiView Dashboard.

Scope

FortiGate.

Solution

Enable Local logs and historical FortiView logs under the log settings on the FortiGate unit. The FortiGate can only generate historical traffic information if the source data is stored in the unit's database.

It should be noted that the 24-hour option is not available for lower-end models (FortiGate-90 series and below).

Note: If the device does not support a Log hard disk is not possible to enable the Historical FortiView.

FortiGate Devices without local storage will require remote logging. To view historical traffic, a data source (FortiAnalyzer, FortiAnalyzer Cloud, FortiGate Cloud) needs to be configured for the selected time period to log device/devices.

In the top right corner, an icon with three lines can be selected to open the 'Settings' page of the Dashboard Widget for FortiView:

In the pop-up window, the necessary settings can be configured as shown below to view historical FortiView traffic data :
