Technical Tip : FortiOS SSL VPN and Bytemobile Optimization Client with 3G/4G Modems.

Description

This article explains how to avoid SSL VPN incompatibility issues when Bytemobile Optimization is enabled for a 3G or 4G modem.

FortiOS v4.0 MR1 and above

Solution

SSL VPN is a secure tunnel and all data traffic must pass through the secure SSL VPN tunnel. A PC trying to connect to a data optimization server whilst connected to a secure SSL VPN tunnel will not be able to reach such servers due to them being outside the tunnel.

It is not recommended not to use Bytemobile Optimization Client when using SSL VPN software or a VPN connection as incompatibility issues may occur.

If experiencing connectivity issues when using the Bytemobile Optimization Client disable this feature.

From "Sprint SmartView" GUI, select "Tools"->"Settings..."->"Acceleration". Either uninstall the "Bytemobile Optimization Client" or turn it off.
