Adjust the Baud Rate

1. Check the Correct Console Port: Ensure using the console port and not the management port.
2. Try Different Terminal Software: Use alternatives like PuTTY or Tera Term to rule out software issues.
3. Verify Cable Type: Ensure that the correct console cable (e.g., RJ-45 to DB-9).
4. Switch Serial Ports: Try using a different port or computer, especially if using USB-to-serial adapters.
5. Inspection for Physical Damage: Check the console port for any visible issues.
6. Reboot the Device: Restart the FortiGate and try accessing the console again.
7. Use a Different COM Port: To open Device Manager, press Windows + R on the keyboard, type devmgmt.msc without the quotes and press Enter. The Device Manager will open. Select the Ports (COM & LPT) to expand it. The COM port to be entered in PuTTY will be listed here. Check the correct COM port from Device Manager -> Ports (COM & LPT) on Windows.
8. Upgrade to the Latest Drivers: Try upgrading to the latest drivers for the Serial port (COM & LPT).
9. Test on a Working Device: Use the same console cable and laptop to connect to another working device to determine if the issue lies with the device, cable, or laptop serial/USB port. Attach photos of the console cable and connection setup.
