Technical Tip: FortiGate 3XG/5XG/7XG/9XG models with 8GB eMMC will not support for firmware v7.1, v7.4.8, v7.6.3 and below

Description

This article describes that FortiGate 3XG/5XG/7XG/9XG models with 8GB eMMC will not support firmware v7.1, v7.4.8, v7.6.3, and below.

Scope

FortiGate 3XG/5XG/7XG/9XG.

Solution

• Due to material shortage, 3XG/5XG/7XG/9XG will be replaced from 32G eMMC to 8G eMMC.

• eMMC = Embedded Multi-Media Card, which is flash memory.

• Those devices with 32G eMMC will not have issues with all the Firmware.

• For 8G eMMC devices, they will not be able to boot up and will be stuck in 'Initializing firewall...' during boot up if firmware v7.2.x, v7.4.8 or v7.6.3 and below is loaded in.
