Technical Tip: FortiGate 100D Management Port
Description
The article describes that the FortiGate 100D includes a special purpose management port that operates on its own virtual domain (VDOM).
Registration of this device may fail when initiated from the FortiGate if this port is connected to the Internet and thereby to FortiGuard and FortiCare.
Upgrading the FortiOS image from the factory default image (build 4083) to FortiOS V4.0 MR3 Patch6 or later does not switch the management VDOM.

Solution
The management VDOM should be changed from the default setting to the root VDOM by using the following CLI commands:
