Technical Tip:FortiFlex need reboot to add vCPU

Description This article describes that when adding a vCPU from FortiFlex, a reboot is needed.

Scope FortiGate-VM.

Solution

A reboot is recommended when adding more vCPUs because Fortinet disabled the 'automatic cpu add due to kernel unstable issue'.

get system status | grep VM
VM Resources: 4 CPU/8 allowed, 15754 MB RAM

execute cpu add 4
get system status | grep VM
VM Resources: 4 CPU/8 allowed, 15754 MB RAM

Adding the CPU will not work; a reboot is needed for FortiFlex to add CPUS.
