Technical Tip: DNS Filter Traffic include Username logs on the Captive Portal Authentication
Description
This article describes how to verify the logs with the Username on DNS Filter Profiles for the Captive Portal Authentication.
Scope
FortiGate.
Solution
Create a Captive Portal on the Lan interface:

Create a DNS Filter with the customer requirement, and create a User or Usergroup under local or Any Server like Radius or LDAP.

Verify with the image shown below:

Once configured with DNS Filter, the User/User group is added to the Firewall Policy. The username logs will be only visible when the User/user group is created under the User&Authentication.

Once, authentication the browser, the traffic logs will be generated with the Username.
Verify logs under Dashboard -> Firewall Users Monitor, and Forward Traffics logs.



Logs with usernames are visible on the logs & Reports.
