Description

This article describes how to check if signatures from GenAI are missing in version 7.4.

Scope

FortiOS v7.4 and v7.6.

Solution

Scenario:

The application signature for Ollama needs to be blocked by using Application Control. The application is listed on the FortiGuard website: Ollama.

When looking up the application in the list of application signatures, it can not be found. This application is not visible either in the FortiGate nor in FortiManager.

From FortiGuard website, this application belongs to Category: GenAI.

When searching via the ID 60350 or the name Ollama, the application still cannot be found in the application signature database.

The latest application definitions are used at the time of troubleshooting.

Application Definitions

---------

Version: 36.00210 signed

Contract Expiry Date: Thu Nov 12 2026

Last Updated using scheduled update on Tue Apr 28 21:17:34 2026

Last Update Attempt: Wed Apr 29 09:18:24 2026

Result: No Updates

The reason that this Application is not shown in the latest application databases is related to the FortiOS version. Version 7.4 supports GenAI, but signatures are from the regular application database (around 50 signatures). The newly added GenAI databases are added in 7.6, which supports more than 600 signatures.
