Description This article describes how to delete an EMS-managed FortiClient app if the EMS no longer has an active subscription.
Scope FortiClient.
Solution

The FortiClient desktop app, when managed by EMS, can have the settings locked to avoid user changes, this means that it can only be deleted through the EMS management page. If the EMS becomes unregistered and its subscription is not renewed, refer to the following methods to delete a FortiClient with locked settings.

Option 1:

  • Download the FCRemove tool from https://support.fortinet.com/ -> Firmware Images -> 'Select Product' -> FortiClient . 'FCRemove.exe' is located inside the 'SupportUtils' folder of the FortiClient Tools folder. Folder path: / FortiClient/ Windows/ version / -> FortiClientTools_*.zip
  • Boot the workstation into Safe Mode,
  • Run the attached 'FCRemove.exe' as Administrator, delete the FortiClient
  • Reboot the workstation.

Option 2:

msiexec /quiet /norestart /uninstall {8SAMPLE569-1290-4F0A-97E6-SAMPLECODE}
