Technical Note : How to test the USB ports on a FortiGate 60C

Description

This article provides a means of testing the USB ports on the FortiGate 60C if they appear to be faulty.

Scope

FortiGate 60C, FortiExplorer

Solution

The HQIP advanced hardware test for the FortiGate 60C will always show a pass for the USB ports. This is because it does not perform a USB loop-back test on these ports.

The USB management port can be tested as follows:

1.  Download FortiExplorer. This is explained in the related KB article "How to download FortiExplorer setup wizard for FortiGate 60C series"

2.  Use FortiExplorer to try to manage the FortiGate 60C via the USB management port.

3.  If this proves unsuccessful then open a FortiCare RMA ticket via the Fortinet Customer Service & Support website. The HQIP log test results and any screenshots from the attempt to use FortiExplorer should be attached to the ticket.
