This article describes how to find the unit serial number on a FortiGate chassis or appliance.

Solution
The equipment serial number and manufacturing date of all FortiGate chassis products and appliances will be written on a silver label attached to the unit. The position of this label will depend upon the model; it may be on the rear, the top, or the side of the unit.
When a chassis or unit is mounted in a rack, the label may not be visible. For example, the label of an FortiGate-5140B is usually positioned on the side of the chassis and cannot be seen when in a rack.
