Description This article provides information to troubleshoot the EDR collector message 'Unsupported operating system version'.
Scope FortiEDR.
Solution

EDR collectors can go into a Degraded state if the device running version is not compatible.

When the error 'Unsupported operating system version' shows under EDR Manager -> Inventory -> Collector, verify that the current EDR Windows collector version is compatible with the Windows OS version.

The latest Windows 11 24H2 is compatible with the latest EDR collector versions. If devices are running Windows 11 24H2 OS, it is recommended to use the latest available Windows collector version. At the moment, the latest GA (official) version is EDR Windows collector v5.2.8.0041.

If the collector version is not available in the FortiEDR console, open a case with Fortinet TAC to request it. Advice on the case:

  • Collector Name.
  • FortiEDR version running.
  • OS running (Windows, macOS, Linux).
  • Attached local logs.

Windows: Open the command line as an administrator and access "C:\Program Files\Fortinet\FortiEDR\FortiEDRCollectorService.exe" --support.

MacOS: Run /Applications/FortiEDR.app/FortiEDRCollector --support.

Linux: Run sudo /opt/FortiEDRCollector/bin/FortiEDRCollector --support.
