Technical Tip: Downgraded 11.3.x agents on Windows may show as offline in Reveal UI
| Description | This article describes that downgrading on Windows from versions 11.3.2 or 11.3.3 to earlier versions may result in the Reveal Agent failing to communicate with the platform, causing them to appear offline in the UI. |
| Scope | FortiDLP. |
| Solution | Impact: Users who have upgraded to 11.3.x and subsequently need to downgrade may find the Reveal Agent no longer communicates correctly. Events may not be reported to the Reveal platform and policy engine actions may not be available.
Root Cause: The 11.3.x Reveal Agent versions contain a specific content inspection configuration, which is not understood by some earlier versions. On 20th August 2024, a Reveal cloud fix was applied to prevent this issue from occurring going forward, but users who already had 11.3.x installed may be affected by this issue.
Solution: If this issue is encountered, re-installing any version 11.4.2 or later will restore agent communications to the platform. This should be done either manually or via a fleet management solution. It will be then possible to downgrade to any version (including 11.3.x) with no issue, due to the Reveal cloud fix applied on 20th August 2024. |
