Description This article describes how to troubleshoot a Custom Decoy image that failed to initialize when using FortiDeceptor-VM.
Scope All supported versions of FortiDeceptor-VM.
Solution

The Custom decoy image may receive the error 'Failed to Initialize customize VM. Failed to launch customized VM when selecting Next -> in Custom Decoy Image -> Customized Images -> Configuration.

Upon selecting Next -> again, it will show the error 'Failed to initialize customized VM. Another custom decoy image support process is running; wait until the process is finished'.

This issue is usually caused by the virtualization not being enabled for the FortiDeceptor-VM. Make sure the virtualization option is enabled in the hypervisor for the FortiDeceptor-VM.

Quick Troubleshooting:

  1. Execute the command 'hardware-info'.
  2. If the CPU flag 'vmx'/'svm' is not there, enable the virtualization related settings for FortiDeceptor VM at the host side.

Note:

This issue can also happen with creating predefined decoys.

The virtualization option should be enabled in the hypervisor once the FortiDeceptor VM is imported.

If necessary, refer to FortiDeceptor fixing decoy failing to deploy error.
