Troubleshooting Tip: Getting error message 'Error resizing disk partition' in FortiClient EMS in AWS environment

Description

This article describes how to resolve the issue 'Error resizing disk partition' in FortiClient EMS in an AWS environment.

Scope

FortiClient EMS v7.4 onwards in an AWS environment.

Solution

When FortiClient EMS is deployed in an AWS environment, run the command below to expand disk space:

execute lvm expand-disk --disk.name nvme0n1

It shows the error: 'Error resizing disk partition: exit status 5'.

Solution:

• This is currently a known issue when FortiClient EMS is deployed in an AWS environment specifically.

• To fix this, contact Fortinet Support, share the error screenshot, and mention Internal Case 1221459.

• TAC will advise further in the ticket with a workaround method.
