Troubleshooting Tip: FortiClient EMS is displaying all Entra ID OUs on the left pane, despite importing selected groups only

Description This article describes how to troubleshoot an issue where FortiClient EMS displays all Entra ID groups on the left pane, despite having imported selected groups only.
Scope FortiClient EMS 7.4 onwards.
Solution

Upon importing only a few Entra ID groups in FortiClient EMS, the left pane may still show all available groups:

This causes random page loading slowness or 'Network Error' when navigating in FortiClient EMS.

 

Solution:

  1. Open a terminal session with the FortiClient EMS Server and run the following command:

 

service restart apache2
service restart webserver

 

  1. Go to FortiClient EMS -> Endpoints -> Manage Domains -> edit.
  2. Select [Import Entire MS Entra Domain] -> Save.

  1. Let the domain sync one time, and ensure that the 'Last Synced' is the present timestamp.

  1. Edit the domain again and import only the desired groups, then save the configuration.

  1. Resync the domain one time and refresh the web browser.
  2. On the left pane, only selected Entra ID groups will be listed.
