Description

This article describes how to resolve the issue 'error restore dbs' when restoring the FortiClient EMS standalone database file (non-Docker) to HA (Docker).

Scope

FortiClient EMS v7.4 onwards.

Current FortiClient EMS setup: Standalone, non-Docker.

Target FortiClient EMS setup: FortiClient EMS HA setup with Docker.

Solution

Issue descriptions:

  1. Take a copy of the database file from a standalone FortiClient EMS non-Docker.

  2. Attempt to restore the database file to a FortiClient EMS HA setup with Docker.

  3. The restore process stopped exactly at 21% and then failed with the following error message:

error restore dbs: restoreDB: restoring from dir: building filtered TOC: reading TOC from /opt/forticlientems/data/upload/dbbackup/sites/fcm_default: exit status 1

Solution:

  1. Go to the current FortiClient EMS dashboard -> Backup database.

  2. For Compression Type, make sure to select 'Database' type.

  3. Select the 'Back Up' button and save the backup file.

  4. Go to the target primary FortiClient EMS and restore the database file saved in step 3.

  5. The restore process will now continue after 21%, and should be successful.

Note: In general, when taking a database backup file, always choose 'Database' compression type, unless it is explicitly requested by Fortinet TAC.
