Troubleshooting Tip: Admins cannot generate new invitations in FortiClient EMS 7.4

Description This article describes why admins in EMS 7.4 need the 'View alert settings' permission to create invitations.
Scope FortiClient EMS Cloud 7.4.x.
Solution

After upgrading to FortiClient EMS 7.4, certain administrators will see the following message when trying to create new invitation codes:

 

'Your permissions may have updated. Please refresh the page.'

Even though the 'Manage Invitations' permission is active in their role, users cannot create new invitations.

 

The issue is persistent with impacted users and persists following browser reload or login/logout activity.

 

Root Cause:

 

The invitation creation form introduced in EMS 7.4 requires an additional permission that was not previously necessary: 'View alert settings' under 'Settings Permissions'.

 

If this permission is not granted, the invitation interface fails to load properly, even if 'Manage Invitations' is enabled.

 

Solution:

 

  • Go to the FortiClient EMS GUI -> Administration -> Roles.
  • Edit the affected role(s).
  • Under the Settings Permissions section, enable View alert settings.
  • Save the changes and have the user refresh their browser session or re-login.

The ability to create new invitations should now function as expected.
