Technical Tip: Workaround when the latest FortiClient installer patch is not available in EMS GUI official release

Normally after each new FortiClient version was released in the Fortinet Support Portal, it would take about 1-2 weeks from the installer release date for the newly released FortiClient version to be available in Fortinet Distribution Network, FDN, and EMS GUI.

As a workaround, the latest version of the FortiClient installer can be downloaded from the Fortinet Support Portal (Welcome to Fortinet Support), to later be used in creating an installer package from EMS.

Refer to the steps below:

1. Download the FortiClient installer (.zip) from the Fortinet Support Portal. Refer to the following article:
   Technical Tip: How to download FortiClient offline installer.
   
   
2. Upload the .zip installer as a custom installer in EMS GUI -> Deployment & Installers -> FortiClient Installer -> Add -> Advanced Options -> Create a manual installer -> Use custom installer -> Name the installer -> Add -> Browse and select the downloaded zip file -> Select Upload. 

3. Continue as described to in the document below to complete adding the deployment package: Adding a FortiClient deployment package.
   
   

4. Now the installer package is ready to be downloaded from EMS GUI to be used during manual FortiClient installation on the endpoint.
   
   

   

    

5. The installer package can also be used to manage FortiClient upgrade deployment via EMS by creating a deployment configuration. Refer to the document below for creating a deployment configuration from EMS: Creating a deployment configuration.
