Description

This article describes how to export or import security profiles in FortiClient EMS.

Scope

FortiClient EMS.

Solution

Export.

In Endpoint Profiles, then Manage profiles, then select desired policy to backup and edit, finally, in Download Profile XML select 'Profile XML' or 'Off-FAbric Profile XML'. A .conf file will be created with all security profiles.

Recommendation: Save the XML file with an easy-to-remember name that indicates the policy name and the security posture (ON/OFF fabric), as applicable—for example: 'Profile_IT_On-Fabric.conf' or 'Backup_IT_Off-Fabric.conf'.

Import.

It is possible to import only a specific security profile or all profiles saved in the XML file.

Select Endpoint Profiles, then select any profile, which can be remote access, ztna destination, system settings, or any of them; it is possible to import just that profile or all of them at once.

Next, configure the name, browse for the XML file, and decide whether to import all profiles (Import All Components) or only a specific profile (Select specific component).

Finally, the security profiles will be imported—all bearing the same name configured previously; using them, create a new policy and select each component with that same name.
