Solution

This article describes two alternative methods to configure a standalone FortiClient VPN.
Solution
There currently is no standalone FortiClient for VPN. However a couple of alternatives are available.
1. FortiClient App
If running Windows 8 or 10, download the FortiClient App from the Microsoft store. This App can only be used for SSL VPN.

2. Standalone Installer
Create a standalone FortiClient VPN installer with the FortiClient Configurator tool. The standalone installer provides an SSL or IPSec VPN tool that can be used on PCs running Windows 7, 8 or 10.
For detailed instructions on using the FortiClient Configurator please refer to the following docs:
-FortiClient 5.4.5 Administration Guide - See page 114-Create a VPN only FortiClient Installer with FortiClient Configurator - See KB in related articles
Technical Support:
-Technical Support for FortiClient Configurator is only provided on the FNDN site forum, not by Fortinet Technical Support.-Technical support for FortiClient requires payed FortiClient or EMS Server license. If you have a FortiGate or a FortiClient EMS server with a valid FortiClient Support license, please provide when opening up a service case when needing FortiClient troubleshooting assistance.
