Description

This article describes maximum log file sizes and rotation behaviors for FortiClient across supported operating systems.

Scope

FortiClient.

Solution

Windows: Log files are automatically rotated when they reach 512 MB.

macOS: The log file is limited to 10 MB with no rotation. Once the limit is reached, the existing log is deleted, and a new one is created.

Linux: The log file is limited to 50 MB with a rotation count of 2 (.log, .log.1, .log.2). Older logs beyond this count are deleted.

Android: FortiClient for Android does not implement a configurable log file size limit. Log files are therefore constrained solely by the available storage capacity of the underlying Android file system.

When logging to FortiAnalyzer, the log file is cleared after each log entry is successfully sent to FortiAnalyzer.
