Technical Tip: Differences between FortiClient files for Windows OS

Description This article describes the differences between the FortiClient files available for download on the Fortinet support page.
Scope All FortiClient versions.
Solution

Step 1. Accessing the support.fortinet.com page, select Downloads/Firmware Images. The product selection menu will, by default, show FortiGate. Change it to FortiClient.

Step 2. Select Download, and then Windows.

Step 3. Select the train version (probably v7.00), then select the most appropriate version v7.0, v7.2 or v7.4. For the example of this article, v7.4 was selected.

Step 4. Select one between the many subversions available. For the example of this article, v7.4.3 was selected.

Each file and its purposes are described in the following table. 

 

File Description
forticlient-7.4.3-windows-release-notes.pdf. Release notes in PDF format.
FortiClientPAMSetup_7.4.3.1790_x64.exe. FortiClient Privileged Access Management for use with FortiPAM.
FortiClientSetup_7.4.3.1790_ARM64.zip. Standard installer package for Windows (64-bit) for ARM64 architecture, full FortiClient version.
FortiClientSetup_7.4.3.1790_x64.zip. Standard installer package for Windows (64-bit), full FortiClient version (x86 architecture).
FortiClientSSOSetup_7.4.3.1790_ARM64.zip. Fortinet single sign-on (FSSO)-only installer (64-bit) for ARM64 architecture. 
FortiClientSSOSetup_7.4.3.1790_x64.zip. Fortinet single sign-on (FSSO)-only installer (64-bit) for x86 architecture.
FortiClientTools_7.4.3.1790.zip. Zip package containing miscellaneous tools, including VPN automation files.
FortiClientVPNSetup_7.4.3.1790_ARM64.exe. Free VPN-only installer (64-bit) for ARM64 architecture. 
FortiClientVPNSetup_7.4.3.1790_x64.exe. Free VPN-only installer (64-bit), for x86 architecture.
