Technical Tip: Process to recover password on FortiAuthenticator

Description

This article describes how to recover the admin password on FortiAuthenticator.

Scope

FortiAuthenticator.

Solution

Apply this procedure, to recover and change the admin password:

Reboot the device and wait for the login request:

Important: This must be done within 2 minutes after reboot.

User: maintainer
Password: bcpb<serial-number-of-device>

For example: 

maintainer
bcpbFAC-VM0A16001214

Access to the device, then type the next command to reset the old password:

admin-pwd-reset <admin-name> <password>

Reset the password, go to GUI, and log in with the credentials specified on the recovery process, change the password immediately after a successful GUI login.
